Source Architects is an architecture and interior design studio working throughout Bathurst and the Central West from its base at 146 Lords Place, Orange, around 55 kilometres away. Spatial planning, joinery, finishes, lighting and furniture selection are handled in-house, either as part of a building project or on their own. Both directors are NSW registered architects, so interiors are resolved with the plan rather than decorated onto it.
Nineteenth century houses, twenty first century lives
Bathurst has one of the best collections of period housing in regional New South Wales, and most of it was planned for a way of living that no longer exists. The work is usually about how the rooms connect and where the light comes from, before it is ever about finishes. See our heritage architecture.
Littlebourne, one of the earliest residences in the Bathurst area, is a current example. Our architecture and interior design work there carefully inserts contemporary services and bathrooms into the historic house and adds a new living wing that opens to the gardens. The project is now under construction.

Bespoke joinery, properly designed and properly detailed for the cabinetmaker building it, is what stops a renovated interior feeling like a showroom. It is also where most of a interiors budget quietly goes, so it is worth designing rather than selecting.

Interiors that respect what's already there
