Architects for Dubbo and the surrounding district
Source Architects is a registered architecture and interior design studio working in Dubbo and across regional New South Wales from its base at 146 Lords Place, Orange. The practice designs new homes, rural residences, substantial renovations and heritage restorations, with interior design handled in-house. David Sutherland (Registered Architect NSW 7572) and Sally Sutherland (Registered Architect NSW 7587) lead every project personally, from the first sketch through to construction.

Houses built for the western plains
Dubbo’s climate is unforgiving in both directions, hot summers and cold nights, and a house that ignores that costs money every year it stands. Orientation, shading, thermal mass, cross ventilation and where the water goes are design decisions, not extras added later. Our completed projects show how those decisions shape a plan.
Rural and semi rural sites
Homes on acreage and working land bring their own constraints, long approaches, exposure, bushfire requirements, water and services. A rural residential architect resolves those before they become expensive, and settles the relationship between the house, the sheds and the landscape rather than dropping a suburban plan onto a paddock.
One practice, concept to completion
Source Architects is a full service architecture practice, not a drafting service. Our scope of services covers feasibility, design, development application, construction documentation and contract administration, with interiors and furniture selection resolved alongside the architecture rather than handed to a separate consultant.
Distance is not the problem people expect
Working regionally is what the practice has always done. Site visits are planned around the stages that matter, and the rest is handled by drawings, models and direct conversation with your builder. If you are looking for an architect for a project in or around Dubbo, get in touch to talk it through.
Common questions about working with an architect in Dubbo
Do you take on projects in Dubbo?
Yes. The studio is based in Orange and the practice works across the Central West and greater New South Wales, including Dubbo and the surrounding district.
Do you design rural and farm houses?
Yes. Homes on rural and semi rural land are a regular part of the work, where orientation, wind, water, bushfire and outlook all shape the design.
Can you help before I buy a site?
Yes. Feasibility and site analysis can be done before purchase so you understand what a site will and will not allow.
Who will lead my project?
