Source Architects is led by David and Sally Sutherland. David and Sally have been working together closely since uni days at the University of Newcastle.

Between them, they bring over 35 years’ experience to the studio and expertise in all building types – from private residences right through to large scale Masterplans, Apartments and Public Buildings.

David Sutherland is a Registered Architect (NSW 7572) and has 20 years’ experience in architectural practice in NSW. David has extensive experience in the design, documentation and delivery of commercial, multi-residential and institutional projects. David graduated from the University of Newcastle with First Class Honours and the University Medal and in 2010 was the winner of the highly coveted Dulux Study Tour. He is recognised for his conceptual and developed design skills and has a focus on strategic planning and business development.

Prior to establishing Source Architects, David was a Director of a large Sydney and Brisbane based architecture firm. In this role, David designed, and was responsible for numerous houses, education and commercial projects. as well as a number of apartment developments for Lendlease and Mirvac. He was also Project Architect for a number of significant master planning projects for school and university clients

David is recognised for his conceptual and developed design skills and has a particular focus on strategic planning.

Sally Sutherland is a Registered Architect (NSW 7587) and talented interior designer with extensive experience in the development and documentation of apartments, public buildings, school buildings and private houses. Prior to establishing Source, Sally worked with a number of highly respected practices including Group GSA, Graham Jahn Associates, Jorge Hrdina and AJ+C Architects.

During her career, Sally has been responsible for and involved in projects such as Dubbo Art Gallery, Narellan Library, Grace Cossington Smith Gallery, St Catherines College and Jacksons Landing Apartments, along with a number of high quality private houses. She has also lectured in Interior Design at Billy Blue College of Design in Sydney and is invited regularly to speak about architecture and interior design.

Sally is a registered  design profession under the NSW Building & Design Practitioners Act and a skilled Contracts Administrator, undertaking this role for many Source Architects projects and on behalf of other practices.

Sally is responsible for the management of the studio, quality assurance and process development and leads design development and documentation teams in the studio.
