Jewel House

Alteration and Additions

Molded house is a rework of a small workers cottages in Orange, NSW. The site is a modest 450sqm and access to northern light is limited. The design responds to the clients’ brief for a warm and intimate establishment. Aspects of this house are cut and molded over as a result of the site restrictions but then a provide an inward facing design for private living.

A central courtyard was used to allow direct and indirect northern light into the living area that are set back in the middle of the site. The ceiling is folded and raised to the courtyard to give the modest spaces the feeling of a much larger space.
