Alterations and Additions
Originally built in the 1820’s, that consistent of only 4 rooms at the time, has grown to be one the most important heritage listed houses in Bathurst, NSW. This once cottage, now is a 6 bedroom house and is in much need of some love and care. After taking ownership from her mother, our client loved the original character and stories that were attached to the house, so protecting and making sure that every intervention proposed was important.
However, as many with heritage homes they need to have some bold improvements to bring in more natural light and amenity to the dwelling. Along with the restoration of the original house an extension is proposed that includes a generous country kitchen that will connect to a casual living space and also connect to a new large outdoor covered entertaining area. The extension uses traditional construction methodology of post and beam for the new living and outdoor areas to allow the large glass openings to the north and beautiful textural ceilings.
